Presentation Title:

Reliability of radioguided occult lesion localization in reoperation of loco-regional persistent/recurrent differentiated thyroid cancer: Retrospective cohort study

Abstract

Although differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) has a favourable prognosis, up to 30% of them may be affected by loco-regional relapse. Reoperation of non-palpable resectable cervical lesions is challenging for the surgeon. Radioguided occult lesion localization (ROLL) was initially used as an alternative to wire-guided localization for resection of non-palpable breast lesions. The Instituto Nacional de Cancerología (INC) has standardized and reproduced the ROLL technique since 2010, adopting it as a routine procedure in its Head and Neck Surgery Department. We aimed to determine reliability of ROLL in the reoperation of patients with DTC and persistent/recurrent non-palpable loco-regional disease.
