Presentation Title:

Water Wash Should Be the Ideal Initial Treatment for Adult Allergic Eustachian Tube Dysfunction - A Report

Abstract

The present approach to the treatment of adult allergic eustachian tube dysfunction is using nasal steroids and oral histamines, even though there are no randomized controlled trials supporting such treatment.

The rationale approach to treating any allergic disorder should be to remove the allergen from the site so that the patient has prompt relief.

Shockingly this is not done.

I am a doctor Consultant Endocrinologist had severe allergic salpingitis with severe tinnitus and a retracted left ear drum. Consulted many Otolaryngologists for almost 2 years with no significant relief.

I did water wash with a syringe, multiple times with excellent response, the left eardrum retraction resolved with almost resolution of tinnitus. So please, in case of persistent Eustachian tube dysfunction due to allergy , removing the allergen , should be done as the primary treatment, nasal steroids should be used as adjunctive treatment only.
